St. Basil the Great (330AD – 379AD), was a bishop in Caesarea (modern-day Turkey). He was also a theologian who lent his support to the Nicene Creed and opposed the heresies of the early Christian church.
St. Basil was also known for his love of the poor. St. Basil established rules for the monastic life which focus on communal life, prayer, and physical labor. He is considered a saint by the Orthodox and Catholic churches and one of its most important teachers of its doctrine.
This book collects together twelve of his homilies on the Psalms, giving a unique insight both into the Psalms they cover.
